Ana Ivanovic defeated by Melinda Czink in Cincinnati
What’s going on with Ana Ivanovic??? it looks like the former world number 1 and French Open champion can not find her way back to the top.
Ivanovic was upset 7-6, 7-5 by Melinda Czink in the second round of the Western & Southern Financial Group Women’s Open in Cincinnati.
The Serb was ledding by a break in both sets but was not able to seal the win and lost in an hour and 50 minutes of play.
Ivanmoovic had a promising start by braking Czink and led 2-0. But she was broken and Melinda levelled at 3-3. Two more breaks were exchanged before a tiebreak ensued. The tiebreak was in fact a microcosm of the set as a whole, with Ivanovic leading 3-0 only to let the lead slip and lose it 8-6.
In the second set Ana lead 3-1. The set looked to be headed into a tiebreak, only for Ana to be broken at 5-5, and then Czink closed out victory.
Ana Ivanovic’s serve was the key problem today, as she made 11 double faults.
