The annual gala cebrating the opening of the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Exhibit took place last night. Fashion’s heavy-hitters came together for what has become one of biggest Red Carpet nights within the fashion community. This year’s event was extra special, thanks to a theme that honored the late designer, Alexander McQueen. The exhibit, titled “Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty,” will include a variety of McQueen pieces to celebrate his legacy and contributions to the world of fashion.
The event is notorious for fabulous, over-the-top ensembles and this year was no different. Even some of the biggest names in the sports world broke out their best designer duds for the evening. Check out the athletes who made their way down the Met Gala Red Carpet:
Now that their season has ended, New York Knicks teammates Carmelo Anthony and Amar’e Stoudemire have plenty of time to showcase their sense of style. Melo, together with wife LaLa, opted for an all-black Versace tux during yesterday’s event. Amar’e hit the Red Carpet with his design partner, Rachel Roy, wearing a classic Calvin Klein tux.
Serena is known for pushing the fashion boundaries both on and off the court. Taking inspiration from the Royal Wedding, she paired her feathered Oscar de la Renta gown with a matching fascinator. Some felt the tennis champion failed to serve up a winner with this outfit but other praised her bridal-esque ensemble.
Gisele accessorized her red hot Alexander McQueen gown with her NFL hubby, Tom Brady. The Patriots QB wore a Tom Ford peak lapel suit, shirt, and a black and white tie. To finish off the polished look, he slicked back his newly famous long locks.Powered by Sidelines
