After a 310 game, 26 year conference losing streak, the Cal Tech Beavers basketball team beat Occidental 46-45 on Tuesday.
Yes, that Cal Tech. The one that has less than 1,000 undergrad students, produced over 30 Nobel Prize winners, and is the school featured on the show The Big Bang Theory.
The excitement was catching, which, I’m sure one of the players could have written up some mathematical formula for. These dudes are smaht.
So, what do you do when you have accomplished the nearly impossible?
You go see the Harlem Globetrotters, of course.
Head coach Oliver Eslinger was asked to sit on the bench of the Washington Generals as their good luck charm. You see, the Generals haven’t won a game against the Globetrotters since 1971.
I’m such a sucker for underdog stories. Congratulations to the Cal Tech Beavers and Coach Eslinger for breaking the streak. Now, maybe you can work on that white-boy rhythm? With this kind of notoriety I can see much jubilant dancing in your future. Maybe on Jay Leno?
Photos by me. Don’t steal ’em. I know you’re jealous of my mad skillz.
