Caroline Wozniacki advances at Japan Women’s Open
Caroline Wozniacki, the top seed and defending champion in Osaka, defeated Ayumi Morita 6-4, 6-1 to advance to the second round of the Japan Women’s Open.
Wozniacki had three aces in the match and snapped a three-match losing streak. The Dane fell to Canadian Aleksandra Wozniak in Tokyo before losing to Maria Jose Martinez Sanchez in Beijing.
In the next round Caroline Wozniacki will play against face Katie O’Brien.
Marion Bartoli also advanced after beating Galina Voskoboeva 6-3, 7-5.
Jill Craybas made it past Kimiko Krumm Date 6-2, 2-6, 6-4 in the battle of the veterans while Samantha Stosur eliminated Alexandra Panova 6-2, 6-4.
