Jenny Boucek (pictured right) was hired today as the Storm’s director of player development and scouting, coach/director of player personnel Brian Agler announced. Boucek was fired midseason as coach of the defunct Sacramento Monarchs in 2009 and is a former Storm assistant, on staff when the team won its 2004 championship.
Boucek’s position helps alleviate some of the duties on the coaching staff, which shrunk to just Agler and Nancy Darsch due to league cutbacks. Boucek, whose parents live in Seattle, knows the team and has experience scouting for the NBA and WNBA.
“I’m thrilled Jenny is joining our staff this season,” said Agler in a released statement. “Jenny has witnessed and experienced the WNBA from both the playing and coaching vantage points and brings a valuable perspective to our staff. She knows both the professional game and our league and what it takes to be successful at our level.
“We will count on Jenny to work with our players to improve their skills and overall game along with overseeing the team’s scouting responsibilities. Just like finding individuals that fit our program and improve our team, we look for staff members that can do the same. Jenny brings that to the Storm.”
