Washington is asking fans to help it spread holiday cheer by bringing new, unwrapped toys to its games against Western Michigan (3-8) on Monday and Georgia Tech (7-4) on Thursday. In exchange for the donation, fans will receive one free ticket per toy.
Gifts can be dropped off at the Hec Ed main entrances. The toys will be given to Toys for Tots, a national foundation of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve that hopes through new toys at Christmas a message of hope to needy youngsters will motivate them to grow into responsible, productive, patriotic citizens and community leaders — according to its website.
On the court, the games are big for Washington (4-3) as it tries to erase memories of a disappointing loss to UC Riverside last week. But the Huskies will still be without C Regina Rogers, who has an injured left hamstring. She has not played since scoring 18 points in the Huskies’ season-opener win against Portland State on Nov. 14.
“Right now, she’s not ready to go,” said Washington coach Tia Jackson before practice on Saturday.
