What does being a girl rider mean to you?
It’s just awesome being able to help and inspire other people, so I try to support other girl riders and really everyone to get more people stoked on unicycling and action sports in general.
Ok, Unicycle. Did you ride something else first or was it strait to one wheel?
Not really, I mean I had a skateboard as a little kid but it mostly just sat in my garage. I think I landed a shove it (?) once, but it was never serious.
What was the inspiration then?
Around 3.5 years ago my friend and I got unicycles because we were looking for a summer project, but then he stopped and I kept riding.
What is the inspiration now?
Now I really have a passion for riding and sticking new tricks. There’s so much potential for creative tricks that haven’t been done before because the sport has only been around for a few years, so the boundaries are really being pushed.
Do you have other Unicyclists to ride with? Know any other female riders?
Know any other female riders? At first there were hardly any people in my area called the “DFW Unicycle Club,” which now has a bunch of members and there are usually about 10-15 unicyclists that meet every week. There are a couple other female riders in the group, but I’m the only one that does the more extreme styles. I do know tons of other extreme riders in other places though, including other girls.
Are there currently any events where you can ride?
There are a couple “big” competitions every year, for example there’s the North American Championships which is held in a different place each year, as well as the world competition (Unicon) every two years, and the Winter Extreme Unicycling Championships in Cologne Germany each winter. Events like those are really sick because most people don’t have a lot of other riders near them, so it’s great to get to session with other unicyclists.
If you could have one wish for 2012, what would it be?
Hmmm, that’s a tough one. Well Unicon is coming up next summer so I’d love to do well in that. Mostly though I just want to keep progressing and pushing the sport as much as I can.
Anything else you would like to say? Any shout outs?
Heck yes, shout out to all the people who support me! Namely my parents, and my awesome sponsors: Unicycle.tv, Kavadba Clothing, Elevated Clothing, Mad4One, and Relentless by Fate. Check ’em out!
