I have taken a few days to reflect and recover from my first CrossFit Regionals Competition in Dallas this past weekend. I am proud to say that I got to compete with my CrossFit Max Effort team, Lindsay Andrew, Alex Chiaradia, Jennifer Hill, Colt Prattes and Marcos Rivera.
The South Regional event was held at Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center in Dallas from May 15 – May 17. Three days of intense competition was rough, but we made it through with smiles on our faces.
I did not have the opportunity to bring my family with me to the event, but I was delighted to see how family-friendly the event was. There were many babies and young children cheering on their mommies, daddies, aunts and uncles. It made me miss my husband and little boys, but the great thing about CrossFit is that it is an amazing spectator sport even for those that cannot attend. Livestreaming was available and my youngest made me smile when he said “Mommy, I saw your workout.”
It was also a UCLA track reunion for me when I got to see my former teammates, Ingrid Kantola, co-owner of CrossFit Jaakarhu, whose team qualified for the Games and Brittany Ferguson, who competed for her CrossFit team last year and qualified as an individual for this year’s South Regional.
I am thankful for the great memories that were made and excited for what is to come next year!
