Mizuno Wave Ronin has been my soldier this spring. Great lightweight model with cushioning for long distance races. I have run anything from 20×1 min on the treadmill to 1 hour easy runs on snow and ice. The outsole got G3-DR. That’s the small spots that provide added durability in key contact points. I think this works really well on icy and slippery roads.
Adidas Adizero Boston completed the mission of replacing the Adidas Supernova Light! This model is some grams heavier than the Supernova Light, but still a light model. I like the thin mesh on top. Good breathability for long races and intervals. What I like the most with Boston is that I hardly feel that I got them on.
Before you decide on getting a new pair of Adidas Adizero Boston or Mizuno Wave Ronin, I think you should consider Nike’s Lunaracer and Lunatrainer. Super light shoes with an impressive cushioning. I have only used my Lunatrainers a few times. But this model got lots of soft cushioning. And still so light!
The Lunaracer is even lighter. This is not a trainer but a racing flat. I use it for both easy runs but also harder long runs. great model it’s worth trying.
I went out loud when I got the new DS Trainer 14. I was so happy that Asics was back in business with their shoe business. Of course Asics is great and always will be. But the DS Trainer collections have been up and down in quality, I think.
Anyway, DS Trainer 14 is not super light, but fits most feet. I think this is a good choice if you’re a light runner looking for good cushioning. Or you’re more of the type for heavier shoes for distance training. DS Trainer 14 could be an alternative for your road race or intervals.
Even though I was really excited about this model, it also caused some foot/arch problems after training camp in Portugal. Not sure what it is, but I changed shoes for my easy runs this weekend and that seemed to solve the problem for now. It could be the combination of orthotics and the support on this model.
I’m pretty sure most runners will love this model! Good luck with the decision making:)
