The NBA rolled out the “Magenta Carpet” for the 2011 All-Star festivities. Since they were held in Los Angeles, a city known for it’s glitz and glamour, the weekend’s stars cranked it up a notch when it came to their style selections. “Hollywood” served as the inspiration for All-Star fashions both on and and off the court.
The NBA All-Star uniforms had several features that payed homage to “Tinseltown.” The bold, block typeface font on the front of the jerseys was inspired by the iconic Hollywood sign, and the East and West team names included the Los Angeles skyline within their lettering. Shiny gold and silver accents added some extra flair to the uniforms. But during last night’s game, it was actually the flashy on-court warm-ups that had fans buzzing. The gear was designed to mimic a three-piece suit, similar to something we might typically see on a Red Carpet. Jackets featured cuffs in the standard formal three snaps and had an embellished internal pocket similar to a suit coat.
But the real fashion show took place when the all-stars hit the pre-game Magenta Carpet. From the style virgins to the style veterans, from sleek suits and skinny ties to leather jackets and shades, these NBA fashionistos dressed to impress. Here are some of the standout styles:
The Miami Heat triumverate of Chris Bosh, Dwayne Wade and LeBron James, all opted for slim suits. The guys looked perfectly coordinated as their suits, shirts and ties featured complimentary color schemes.
