On Saturday, Feb. 7, the New York City Parks Department is partnering with Aura 360 to host the annual Winter Jam NYC, which will bring thousands of action-oriented New Yorkers out to experience the only ski and snowboard festival of its kind in New York City.
The event will feature the Future of Snowboarding Invitational plus plenty of activities for the public to enjoy, such as sledding on a 70-foot long snow flume (yeah!), an ice-climbing wall, cross-country skiing and snowshoeing, a snow sculpture contest (weather permitting), the Pride of New York Warming Hut & Winter Market plus live entertainment.
Traditionally held in Central Park, this year’s Winter Jam NYC will be located in the newly renovated East River Park on the Lower East Side of Manhattan, allowing the event to “spread its wings” while adding the historic Brooklyn skyline as a dynamic backdrop.
Busy next weekend? Make your way to the park on Thursday, Feb. 5 @ 6:00 for the Red Bull Snowscrapers where sixteen of the world’s best snowboarders, including Shaun White, Pat Moore and Travis Rice, will snowboard over a towering 90-foot tall, state-of-the-art structure. The athletes will drop in from the structure before flying off the specially constructed kicker toward an immense 80-foot long hip.
If anyone is planning to attend either event, let us know!
