Team USA’s Claressa Shields has been steamrolling through her competition; and is now one win away from being the USA’s first gold medalist in women’s boxing.
Shields won a 29-15 decision over Marina Volnova of Kazakhstan is what was a brawl from start to finish. Shields’s counter punches is what put her over the top, dominating all four rounds. She will face Nadezda Torlopova of Russia Thursday morning for the Middleweight gold medal.

Marlen Esparza lost the first 2 rounds of her battle with Ren Cancan of China in their flyweight encounter. Esparza would battle back in the third and fourth, but Cancan kept the upperhand with a 10-8 decision. Cancan will face the UK’s own Nicola Adams for the Flyweight gold.

As expected, Irish Lightweight Katie Taylor has made it to the gold medal match, with her dominant performance over Mavzuna Choriyeva of Tajikistan. Taylor looks to complete her “golden” journey by defeating Sofya Ochigava of Russia.
