The reality fighting show craze isn’t just for the US markets. Many countries have put forward their own formats to help promote the new stars and talent.
Two Thai reality shows are looking to look for the next Muay Thai Star. Enfusion is back for another season. Although the series will mainly feature heavyweights, the team captains are women; and the captains will face each other during the season. The show is broadcasting in 18 different countries. More info can be found on their facebook page.
The other Thai show is called “Muay Thai Angels”, which will feature a 16 woman tournament. Italian fighter and Thailand staple Sindy Huyer will serve as host. The winner will get 25,000 Euros and a Toyota Vios car. The opening round will be on October 2, with November 2 for the quarter finals, and December 25 for semi-finals and finals. More info can be found here.
Australia’s Wimp-to-Warrior is currently seeding their cast for season 2. The show finds everyday people and turns them into MMA fighters. Women will receive several spots on the show. A few of last year’s female winners have already made a commitment to pursue their fight careers post show. The show is currently a webseries, but they are pressing to make it on television. You can watch weekly episodes and find out more on their facebook page.
Don’t be surprised if we see more countries take up the fight reality model, and with the current popularity for female fighters, we can only expect more exposure to female combat sports.
