As you can see, I’ve changed my blog-address to a shorter one. www.steeplegirl.com is because I’m going back to the event I liked so much and I needed a shorter address. And the photo shows the reason why I stopped running steeple in 2006! There’s some more photos from this race, but I will save them until I’ve run a PB.
Long time ago I used to run steeplechase… First time I tried was in the fall 2003. Then I did a more serious attempt at the European Cup in 2004. At this point steeplechase wasn’t an “official” event and very few girls ran the steeple. It was really hard to find meets with steeple and difficult to get good competition.
I changed my training program after the 2004-season with a strong faith in me becoming a better distance runner. Well, as some of you know, that didn’t happen. Long story short with me and the steeple barriers; the European Championship in 2006 was my goal. But the season ended very badly here in the water pit at Bislett Stadium the day after the qualification date expired.
I have been thinking a lot and made up my mind. I’m going back to the steeple and will focus on 3000m SC next summer. Training won’t be much different in the winter and I feel excited that I’m finally psyched up to this again! 9.53.18 is to be destroyed next summer:) Do you want to try?
