An international flavor will pepper the WNBA’s exhibition season with the Atlanta Dream headed to Manchester, England for a tune-up and a Japanese team traveling to Phoenix. But the Storm is keeping it stateside for now as it prepares to defend its 2010 WNBA championship.
The Storm will play the Los Angeles Sparks in Carson, Calif. at noon on May 25 and its final exhibition game is set for May 29 against Tulsa at 2 p.m. at KeyArena. Training camp begins May 15 while Seattle opens its regular season at home against Phoenix on June 4.
Atlanta and a team to be named will travel the farthest, playing at the 18,095-seat Manchester Evening News Arena as part of a new, multiyear partnership between the Manchester City Council and the National Basketball Association.
The previous WNBA game played outside the states was a exhibition matchup between the San Antonio Silver Stars and former Detroit Shock at the Arena de Monterrey in Mexico in May 2004.
