The Storm signed veteran guards Temeka Johnson and Noelle Quinn to its training camp roster on Thursday. No, not exactly what many may have had in mind as a free agency announcement following news that centers Lauren Jackson and Ann Wauters will not return for the 2013 season.
But Johnson, who’s 5 feet 3, could possibly backup All-Star Sue Bird while Quinn, who won a then-Pac-10 tournament championship with UCLA in 2006, could add depth on the wing. Karen Bryant, the Storm’s president and CEO, was lighthearted about the signings on Twitter, especially since to date the team is replacing a 6-6 player with a 5-3 one.
@JaydaEvans we'll probably only use her in the post sometimes 🙂

A nine-year veteran, Johnson won a WNBA championship with Phoenix in 2009. She was a starter for the Tulsa Shock last season, averaging 12.2 points and 4.7 assists.
Quinn is a six-year journeywoman in the league, last playing for Washington. Her best season was 2010 in Los Angeles where she started 34 games and averaged 10.2 points and 4 rebounds.
Seattle, which opens training camp in May, has 11 players on its roster.
Former Storm training camp invitee Ashley Corral, whose younger sister is a freshman G at Washington, signed a free agency contract with the Washington Mystics on Thursday.
