Sophomore guard Alexia Standish is leaving the Texas A&M women’s basketball team. She will remain at the university to continue her education. This season the 5-8 guard appeared in five games with one start. Last season Standish appeared in 34 games with 21 starts. The school did not give a reason to explain exactly why she quit.
“We wish Alexia the best in the future and appreciate all that she has done for Aggie Basketball,” said head coach Gary Blair “She will continue her education here at Texas A&M where she intends to graduate.”
Standish is from Colleyville, Texas. She was rated the No. 30 overall prospect in the Class of 2011, the No. 6 point guard in the country and the No. 1 point guard in the Texas by ESPN Hoopgurlz. She became only the second true freshman to start more than 20 games at point guard under head coach Gary Blair.
