The injuries continue to mount at USC. Sophomore forward Michelle Jenkins was diagnosed earlier this week with a torn anterior cruciate ligament and will miss the remainder of the season. Jenkins was injured on Friday night in the Women of Troy’s loss at Gonzaga. She will have surgery to repair her injury knee next month. Jenkins brings USC’s season total of ACL injuries to three players. Stefanie Gilbreath sustained her third ACL injury in late-summer and freshman Vicky Tagalicod were also felled. Jacki Gemelos, who has had four surgeries to repair ACL injuries in in three years and has yet to play in a college game, is expected to return in January.
Jenkins averaged 10.1 minutes a game last season and was coming in off the bench in three games thus far, averaging 2.7 points and 2.0 rebounds.
USC may have the toughest draw among all eight of the teams participating in the Paradise Jam in the Virgin Islands, facing Rutgers, No. 13 Texas and No. 19 Mississippi State on consecutive days.
