Vera Zvonareva to pay $1500 fine at the US Open
The highlight of the off-court action was Serena Williams being fined for insulting a linewoman but she was not the only one to receive some punishment during the 2009 US Open.
Vera Zvonareva was fined $1,500 for audible obscenity.
Also Roger Federer has been fined $1,500 for using a profanity while arguing with the chair umpire during the U.S. Open final against Juan Martin Del Potro. And Daniel Koellerer got the same fine while Daniel Nestor must $5,000 for unsportsmanlike conduct toward a fan.
Widmaier says a total of $31,500 in fines is being collected by the tournament, topped by Serena Williams’ $10,000 for unsportsmanlike conduct. She also was fined $500 for racket abuse.
As you can see we did not only had action on the court but outside as well.
