The Olympic Winter Games in Sochi, Russia will put a new round of patriotic threads on full display. The USA Luge Olympic Team has invited fans to help choose their uniforms for the upcoming Games. USA supporters can select the speed suit, helmet and sled that the team will wear and use in Sochi.
“More than ever, we need our fans to show their support and choose the look of our team for the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games. This is our way to say thank you and engage America to help our athletes look sharp as they slide toward the Games next February,” said John Fee, USA Luge executive board president.
Valiant Entertainment, one of the world’s leading comic book and character-based entertainment companies and a sponsor of USA Luge, created the race suits. They were inspired by the company’s signature hero, X-O Manowar, with designs by Harvey Award-nominee Khari Evans.
The competition will have the team dressed in one four distinct designs: “Flagship,” “Stargate,” “Silver Wave,” or “Racer.” The “Flagship” suit features an American flag motif on top, paired with a black bottom with “USA” written across the thigh. “Stargate” includes color blocks of red, white and blue, with “USA” in large letters down the side of the suit. “Silver Wave” was designed with a sleek and modern graphic pattern, in black, white, navy and light blue hues. The “Racer” suit has an all-black base, while an American Flag on the shoulder adds patriotic flair.
