InvictaFC 17 loses a bout, but gains a new fighter. Mizuki has dropped out of her match with Aline Serio due to injury, so Kaline Medeiros has stepped up to take her place. Medeiros (6-4) has a KO of the Year win over Stephanie Eggink, and has a kimura win over Sarah Payant in her Bellator bout last year.
The fight is still announced at strawweight.
Julia Jones is out of her InvictaFC debut against Tessa Simpson due to injury, so the match has been scrapped.
We will have a primer for InvictaFC 17 shortly after weigh-ins on Friday.
Invicta has also signed three more fights to their roster.
Undefeated Polish fighter Agnieszką Niedźwiedź, undefeated Brazilian Talia Santos, and IMMAF European champion Sunna Rannveig Davidsdottir (Iceland) will make their debuts on upcoming cards.
Niedźwiedź (7-0) was on her way to the Cage Warriors bantamweight title until an unexpected pregnancy has kept her out for the past few years. She has finished in all but one of her fights. She will be fighting at flyweight at Invicta.
Santos (13-0) has ten first round finishes to her credit and will be a welcome addition to the bantamweight division.
Davidsdottir (4-1 amateur) won the IMMAF Europe Flyweight title in November, with two of her wins by TKO in the tournament.
InvictaFC has announced veteran fighter Kaitlin Young will joining Julie Kedzie in her matchmaking responsibilities.
Julia Budd announced this week she is out of her Bellator title fight with Marloes Coenen due to injury. The fight will be rescheduled to a later date.
Three matches have been announced last week for the UFC.
In what will be the first female flyweight fight in the UFC, Joanne Calderwod will face Valerie Letourneau at UFC Fight Night Ottawa June 18th. Caldwerwood told the MMA Hour on Monday she requested the fight be at 125 due to her being inactive and wasn’t sure she make 115.
Calderwood also told the MMA Hour she has been training at Tri-star and has learned a lot from head coach Firas Zahabi, who will be cornering her. Calderwood stated she would be interested in coming up to 125 permanently if the UFC does decide to add the division.
Letourneau was on a four fight win streak before losing a unanimous decision to strawweight champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk.
Also announced for the card, Randa Markos will face Jocelyn Jones-Lybarger. Both are coming off of decision losses.
The matches will air on Fox Sports 1.
The other match announced sees hometown fighter Felice Herrig returning after a year absence to take on Kailin Curran at UFC on Fox in Chicago July 23. Both have losses to Page VanZant, but Curran is coming off a win over Emily Kagan. The fight is expected to air on Fox.
