Kiteboarding is about finesse and balance. Women can be better at it than men – Tammy Camp
This weeks’ Techie Who Kites feature is very special. Why? She’s our FIRST woman techie who kites on Just Kite It! Dan Larsen, our feature from two weeks ago made sure I connected with @Tammy Camp. After a little bit of research, I discover that she not only is a kiteboarder techie, she’s also an entrepreneur! Voila. Tammy is a bundle of delight! She happily accommodated an interview in spite of a superbly hectic schedule. At the time of the interview approximately two weeks ago, she was a few days away from jetting to Cabarete, Dominican Republic for a Kiteboard for Charity Event hosted by Laurel Eastman. The same event was attended by our previous Ripping It star athlete, Dominique Granger who placed FIRST in the racing competition! This is a post for FIRSTS!
The quintessential question: Who is Tammy Camp?
A: Known in the kiteboarding techie circles as a serial entrepreneur, Tammy started her career way before Google was cool. While traveling in Europe during her senior year in film school, Tammy was in search for a way to get from London to Amsterdam. She went to Yahoo Travel (way before Google), yet information was challenging to find. That moment sparked the idea for her first venture which launched in September 10, 2001. Tammy did not wish to disclose further information about this particular startup to keep the privacy of groups or individuals who were part of the deal. Fair enough!
Today, Tammy is Founder and CEO of Corpcom, a full-service internet marketing firm that specializes in SEO (search engine optimization) and SEM (search engine marketing.) She’s also in the Advisory Board of a number of startups.
