With the world focused on the 2012 London Olympic games, now might be a good time to think about how you can make it to Rio in 2016 (Ha!). Becoming an Olympian is obviously an incredibly difficult feat to accomplish, but an athlete’s odds of making the team vary greatly depending on which sport they choose to excel in. I recently came across this infographic on eCollegeFinder, which matches students with online colleges, and it demonstrates the chances for American high school athletes to make the US Olympic team in their respective sports– the results are quite interesting!
Apparently female handballers and male equestrians have the best odds of going to the Olympics, while both male and female basketball players have the worst odds! Now obviously the pools of handballers and equestrians are much smaller than those of male and female of basketball players, but maybe this infographic will help you decide which sport to pick up next!
