Fan voting for the 2010 WPS All-Star Game is officially open at http://www.womensprosoccer.com/allstars.
Fans can now go online and vote for their favorite WPS stars through this week to decide the two teams for the 2010 WPS All-Star Game. Fans can vote for two (2) goalkeepers, six (6) defenders, eight (8) midfielders and six (6) forwards up to a maximum of 25 times with balloting closing on Friday, June 4, 2010 at 8pm ET/5pm PT.
The 2010 WPS All-Star Game presented by U.S. Coast Guard Reserve will be played on Wednesday, June 30 at KSU Soccer Stadium in Atlanta. The game will be broadcast live on Fox Soccer Channel starting at 7:30pm ET/4:30pm PT, including a pregame show from Atlanta.
This season’s game will employ an unprecedented and uniquely engaging format. A total pool of 36 players will be selected as WPS All-Stars, with 22 starting players chosen through voting by teams, players, media and fans, and the other 14 reserve players chosen by Coaches’ and Commissioner’s picks. The international player and domestic player receiving the most votes will be named captains of the all-star teams.
In Atlanta, the two captains together with the team coaches will select the Starting XI for each team from the pool of 22 starting players in an alternating “playground pick-em” style format during an event two days prior to the WPS All-Star Game.
