Catchings, Quigley to rep the W in inaugural NBA HORSE Challenge

Hall of Fame-bound Tamika Catchings and Chicago Sky guard Allie Quigley will battle the boys in the NBA’s inaugural NBA HORSE Challenge. The event is sponsored by State Farm, which will donate $200,000 towards coronavirus relief efforts.

If you’ve been missing the thrill of elite basketball players shoot a ball through a hoop, the NBA has put together something to tide you over: a first-ever NBA H-O-R-S-E Challenge that tips off Sunday.

Representing the WNBA are Indiana Fever general manager and soon-to-be Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame inductee Tamika Catchings, along with Chicago Sky guard Allie Quigley, who owns the record for most points scored in an All-Star 3-Point Contest — in NBA or WNBA history.

The coronavirus pandemic requires the players shoot from “respective home courts,” according to the league’s press release. Joining Catchings (2012 WNBA champion) and Quigley (three-time All-Star) in the single-elimination competition are NBA veteran Chris Paul, Trae Young (Atlanta Hawks), Zach LaVine (Chicago Bulls), Mike Conley, Jr. (Utah Jazz), and former NBA Finals MVPs Chauncey Billups and Paul Pierce.
