Rhines is an American distance runner who focuses on the 5k. She attended Villanova where she became the 1994 NCAA Cross Country Champion. She also took home a gold medal at the NCAA Indoor Championships in the 5k in 1995. She is a three-time NCAA Outdoor Championship 5k winner. She qualified for the Olympic Trials in 2000 and 2001 (USA Champs) in the 10k. She was a silver medalist at the 2002 World Cross Country Championships (team), and was the USA 10k champ. She placed third in the 2004 Olympic Trials for the marathon. In 2005 she took home bronze in the 10k at the USA Outdoor Championships. In 2007 she placed 2nd overall in the 5k at the USA Outdoor Championships. In 2009 she got another silver in the 5k at the USA Outdoor Championships. She has been a member of two Olympic Teams (2004 and 2008).
She trains with the Mammoth Track Club in California.
