Jeptoo is a professional runner from Kenya. She focuses on the marathon. In 2004, she won the Stockholm Marathon with a time of 2:35:05 and the Milan Marathon in 2:28:11. She competed at the World Championships in Helsinki in 2005. There, she placed 7th overall (2:24:22).

She had a stand out 2006 winning the Paris Half Marathon in 1:09:56 and the Boston Marathon in 2:23:38. Jeptoo also placed third at the IAAF World Road Running Championships that same year.

In 2007, Jeptoo won the Lisbon and Paris half marathons. In 2008, she won the Portugal Half Marathon. She finished third at the 2008 Boston Marathon and fourth in the 2008 New York marathon.

She returned to racing in 2011 after a pregnancy leave. At the 2012 Boston Marathon, she placed sixth. She narrowly missed winning the Chicago Marathon in 2012, finishing second in 2:22:41.
