Alissa McKaig of Zap Fitness letting go

McKaig was a three time letter winner at Concordia Lutheran. She went on to compete at Michigan State. During the 2006 cross country season she was named All-American, All-Region, All-Big Ten and USTFCCCA All-Academic.

She went on to  Indiana Tech. There she won NAIA titles in the 5k (2008 indoor) and 10k (2008 outdoor). She continued to run post-college, focusing on the marathon.

In 2010 she ran 2:37:39 at the NYC Marathon. She qualified and competed in the 2012 Olympic Trials. There, she ran another personal best of 2:31:56. In 2011 she finished sixth at the USA Cross Country Championships in San Diego, as part of the bonze medaling US squad.

She trains with ZAP Fitness in western North Carolina.
