Ladia Albertson-Junkans is Balancing It All; Elite Running and a Full Time Job

Albertson-Junkans attended Stillwater High School in Stillwater, Minnesota. There she ran track and cross country, competiting in the 4X800m, 1600m and 3200m. She won the cross country state meet in 2001.

She went on to compete at the University of Minnesota. There, she was a member of the Big Ten winning squads in 2006, 2008 and 2009. She completed her career as a Gopher with two All-Americans in cross country. Upon graduating with her undergraduate degree, she went on to achieve her master's in public health. During her two year graduate program running took a back seat.

Currently, Ladia works as a full time child development researcher while training with Team USA Minnesota. Her comeback came in after graduation in 2011 when she ran the Wells Fargo Half Marathon. A year later, she ran the same race, taking off over two minutes from her finishing time. She took 8th in the 2012 USA 10mi Championships and third at the Cow Harbor 10k.
