Breaking News: East Tennessee coach Brittney Ezell agrees to extension through 2019

One of the best turnaround jobs in the country was at East Tennessee State. And their head coach, Brittney Ezell, was rewarded with a four-year contract extension that will run through 2019.

Brittney Ezell has agreed to a four-year contract extension with East Tennessee State, which will last until the 2019 season. Ezell, only in her second year, helped usher one of the best turnaround jobs this college basketball season — it was second in the nation.

The Bucs went from 9-21 in 2013-14 to 21-12 this past year, and were a few possessions away from upsetting No. 17 Chattanooga in the SoCon Tournament championship game.

When reached by text message Thursday night, Ezell had this to say: “I wanted to stay due to the fantastic opportunity, and to continue to develop a championship-level program.

“I’m humbled to continue to work for (Director of Intercollegiate Athletics) Dr. Richard Sandler, President Dr. Brian Noland — and excited to keep growing our incredible support.”
