Dance Card: Pittsburgh, ACC at-large

The Panthers are prowling in this restless bracket.

Who? The Panthers of Pittsburgh. Or Pitt for short.

What? The Panther was selected for a multitude of reasons, and made them the first collegiate Panthers. Roc is a bit of a trash-talker.

Where? Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the Steel City.

When? March 21st, in Knoxville, Tennessee.

Why? They played a very tough schedule and came out of it far better than everyone expected them to.

How? They were an at-large selection.

Surprise? Predicted to finish fifteenth in the conference, they finished seventh, six games behind Notre Dame.

RPI: 38

SOS: 22

Record: 19-11 (9-7 ACC)

Good wins: North Carolina.

Bad losses: At Duquesne, by virtue of being their only regular-season loss to an opponent who received no ranking this season.

Who’s running this show? Suzie McConnell-Serio, since 2013, former point guard for the Cleveland Rockers.

Extra, Extra! The Post-Gazette and the Tribune.

Everything revolves around senior point guard Brianna Kiesel, who leads the Panthers with 18.2 points and 4.6 assists per game. Graduate forward Monica Wignot adds 10.4, while freshmen Stasha Carey and Yacine Diop have shown promise, especially on the boards.
