HELP TACKLE ALZHEIMER’S DISEASE!

ALZHEIMER’S ASSOCIATION, NEW YORK CITY CHAPTER IS NOW RECRUITING WOMEN IN THEIR 20s AND 30s TO PLAY IN

NYC’S FIRST ANNUAL POWDER PUFF CHARITY FOOTBALL GAME

Proceeds From Ticket Sales Will Support Programs, Services and Research

The Alzheimer’s Association, New York City Chapter is now recruiting players--women in their 20s and 30s--for its first annual Powder Puff Charity football game, a flag football competition scheduled for May 21, 2011 in Manhattan. Playfully called “Blondes vs. Brunettes” (BvB), the charity event will support programs, services and research that benefit the New York City Alzheimer’s community. The Chapter is also recruiting 20 and 30-somethings--both men and women--as coaches, announcers, cheerleaders, water girls/boys and other volunteers to help build an atmosphere of fierce, but friendly competition. The application deadline is January 23, 2011.

The competition is open to women of all hair colors and styles. The two teams of 25 will be divided to reflect the age-old rivalry between fair-haired and raven-haired women. Redheads and women with “alternative hair color” can play for the team of their choice. Each player must meet the minimum requirement of raising $350. The ten women on each team who raise the most money by the mid-February Draft Party will automatically make the team. The other 15 will be selected on the basis of sportsmanship and athletic ability. Leading up to game day, teams will participate in a series of events to increase awareness for Alzheimer’s disease.

BvB is sponsored by the Junior Committee of the Alzheimer's Association, New York City Chapter, which is dedicated to raising awareness of Alzheimer's and related dementias to individuals in their 20s and 30s through events, support and education to further the efforts of the NYC Chapter.
