GRO And Girl Scouts Come Together At Girl Fest

GRO at Girl Scouts of Oregon and Southwest Washington’s Girl Fest.

Saturday, November 15, 2014 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Portland Expo Center, Portland, Oregon

The Girl Scouts have invited GRO to introduce girls to skateboarding and snowboarding at Girl Fest 2014.  On Saturday, November 15th from 10a – 4p, 4,000-6,000 Girl Scouts from all over the Northwest will come together at the Portland Expo Center in Portland, Oregon.  Here they will have opportunities to engage in an array of sports and activities and with the help of GRO that will include introductions to both skateboarding and snowboarding.

GRO will host a skateboarding area where girls will be able to learn about skateboarding and the basic skills needed to ride.  There will be skate workshops throughout the day to provide the scouts a safe and positive introduction to the world of action sports.  With the support of TumYeto and SkateOne, there will be skateboards available to ride.

Girls will also get to learn about snowboarding, snowboarding equipment and upcoming opportunities to learn to ride with GRO this season.

All girls that wish to participate in skateboarding must meet the following guidelines of Girl Scouts and GRO.

  • All girls are required to wear close toed shoes.  Skate or tennis shoes are preferred.
  • All girls will be required to wear safety gear including a helmet, elbow pads, knee pads and wrist guards.
  • All participants must be in 2nd grade or older to skateboard.

About GirlFest

Join us for our biggest Girl Scout celebration of the year, GirlFest! Discover hundreds of amazing activities – learn to ride a skateboard, “drive” a submarine, control a robot and more (see partners below). Finish your day with a rockin’ concert from American Idol finalist, Glee guest star and international recording artist Jessica Sanchez!

Have fun with your friends and experience everything cool about being a girl. Everyone is invited to share in the fun (boys, too!) and you don’t have to be a Girl Scout to attend. We can’t wait for you to join us!
