Hoopism: A few more box scores to consider

Today’s preseason results:

The Sun edged the Sky, 84-81.

The Mercury downed the Storm, 81-73. Strong showings by most of the rookies on both teams.

The Stars topped the Dream, 74-67.

Watch those box scores……they count X10 in preseason.

Player break:

The WNBA and its player union have amended their agreement and will no longer fine players for missing time here due to overseas play. (I never liked that rule in the first place)

Team news:

The Lynx are leading a Minnesota basketball resurgence.

The Sun are looking to contend.

Player news:

Brittney Griner’s “this is Sportscenter” commercial.

Aerial Powers’ passion has fueled her leap into the WNBA.

Kahleah Copper is opening eyes at Mystics training camp.

Catching up with Washington’s Tierra Ruffin-Pratt.

Sun rookie Moriah Jefferson has made a smooth jump into the WNBA.

Sylvia Fowles hopes to benefit from a full season with Minnesota.

DeLisha Milton-Jones enters her 18th season with grace and tenacity.

Coach news:

Lynx assistant coach Jim Petersen plans to keep coaching - and broadcasting.

The college transfer and “coach abuse” issue:

Where recruits draw the line for screaming and cursing.

Kentucky exodus continues:

Alexis Jennings is the seventh player to transfer from Kentucky.

College team news:

Could Oregon sign the nation’s top recruiting class?

College player news:

Nebraska’s new coach expects Natalie Romeo to transfer.

College coach news:

Danielle O’Banion is the new associate head coach at Memphis.

Cool bonus:

Queens of the court: They may be petite, but their love of basketball is huge.
