Let the Golf Games begin!

The main purpose of Ladies on the Tee Golf Blog presented by Sherry Tabb is to help women embrace the game of golf in greater numbers. The mission is to develop a community of women that will share their experiences, their ideas, their successes and their overall passion for the game of golf.

Solheim Cup About to Begin

The 2009 Solheim Cup is set to begin this week. I just wanted to take a few minutes to recognize the talented players and staff on both teams.

Playing for the reigning champions on Team USA are:

Paula Creamer – 3rd appearance

Cristie Kerr – 5th appearance

Angela Stanford – 3rd appearance

Kristy McPherson – Rookie

Nicole Castrale – 2nd appearance

Christina Kim – 2nd appearance

Brittany Lang – Rookie

Morgan Pressel – 2nd appearance

Brittany Lincicome – 2nd appearance

Natalie Gulbis – 3rd appearance

Juli Inkster – Captain’s pick – 8th appearance

Michelle Wie – Captain’s pick, Rookie

USA Team Captain – Beth Daniel

Asst Captains – Meg Mallon and Kelly Robbins

On the Team Europe will be:

Gwladys Nocera (France) – 3rd appearance

Tania Elosegui ((Spain) – Rookie

Diana Luna (Italy) – Rookie

Laura Davies (England) – 11th appearance

Sophie Gustafson (Sweden) – 7th appearance

Suzann Pettersen (Norway) – 5th appearance

Helen Alfredsson (Sweden) – 8th appearance as player- Captain in 2007

Catriona Matthew (Scotland) – 5th appearance

Maria Hjorth (Sweden) – 4th appearance

Becky Brewerton (Wales) – Captain’s Pick – 2nd appearance

Janice Moodie (Scotland) – Captain’s Pick – 3rd appearance

Anna Nordqvist (Sweden) – Rookie – Captain’s Pick

Europe Captain – Alison Nicholas

Asst Captain – Liselotte Neumann

This team competition is one of the Premier Golf Events for Women’s Golf. Ladies on the Tee author, Sherry Tabb, would like to wish each player the best. May team spirit, sportsmanship and international competitiveness and friendship abound throughout the event.

Fans from all over will convene to cheer on their chosen side in the spirit of all that is good in the game of golf. There will be seas of red, white and blue AND blue and yellow-gold spread out all over Rich Harvest Farms in Sugar Grove, IL.
