Ana Ivanovic retires temporarily from tennis

Ana Ivanovic announced she is temporarily retiring from tennis to regain strength.
The former WTA number one has taken this decision after being eliminated in the first round of U.S. Open by Katerina Bondarenko, number 52 in the WTA world ranking.

“I will separate myself from the world of tennis for a while and then return to winning ways. I am disappointed because I made blunders during the match. I also lost my forehand, my best weapon. Everything has to do with my loss of confidence, ” Ivanovic said.

“Since years ago that I have no real vacation, so I can hardly wait to disconnect a little from tennis. It will help me return to the path of success,” she concluded.

A year ago Ivanovic was ranked number 1 but it all started to go wrong after being eliminated from the last U.S. Open in the second round.
Her greatest success was her victory at Roland Garros in May 2008.
