Five Team USA Minnesota Athletes to Run the 10,000m at Cardinal Invitational May 1; Emily Brown to Compete at Lilac Bloomsday 12k in Spokane on May 2

Minneapolis/St. Paul – April 29, 2010 – Five Team USA Minnesota distance runners will run the 10,000 meters at the Payton Jordan Cardinal Invitational in Palo Alto on May 1. Katie McGregor and Meghan Armstrong will be among the competitors in the women’s 10,000-meter race at Cobb Track & Angell Field, with Patrick Smyth, Josh Moen and Matt Gabrielson running in the men’s 10,000-meter event.

McGregor has a best in the 10,000 of 31:21.20 and Armstrong has run 33:26.70 in the distance. Smyth has posted 28:25.80, Moen has a best of 28:26.26 on the track, and Gabrielson has a 10k mark of 28:44, which he set on the roads. The Cardinal Invitational is hosted by Stanford University.

Lilac Bloomsday 12k – May 2
Emily Brown
will be among the elite field at the 34th running of the Lilac Bloomsday in Spokane on May 2. Some 55,000 runners are expected to participate in the 12-kilometer event.

Last weekend Brown finished second at the Get in Gear 10k road race in Minneapolis with a time of 34:00.
