Which teams are in the 2021 WNBA Draft Lottery?
The teams in this year’s draft lottery are:
New York Liberty
Atlanta Dream
Dallas Wings
Indiana Fever
Why does the WNBA hold a draft lottery?
The team that wins the draft lottery will get the No. 1 pick in the 2021 WNBA Draft.
The 2021 WNBA Draft will be held in April.
What are the odds of any specific team winning the draft lottery?
The teams’ records over the past two seasons will be taken into account and the team with the worst record over that span, the Liberty, will have the highest chance (44.2 percent) of getting the No. 1 pick.
The Dream have a 27.6 percent chance to get the No. 1 pick, while the chances for the Wings and Fever stand at 17.8 percent and 10.4 percent, respectively.
How does the draft lottery work?
There will be 14 balls in the lottery machine, numbered one through 14.
Four balls will be drawn and the combination that is formed will match a combination that was given to one of the teams. That team will get the first pick and the process will be repeated to see which gets the second pick.
The third pick will be based solely on which of the remaining teams has had the worst record over the past two seasons. Thus, the Liberty are guaranteed to get the third pick or higher.
