NCAAW Opening Weekend: No. 1 S. Carolina, other Top 25ers kick off season

The 2020-21 NCAAW season is finally upon us! Here are a few matchups you may want to watch over Thanksgiving weekend.

The 2020-21 NCAAW women’s basketball season is finally here! Despite disappointing cancellations and postponements already being announced due to COVID-19-related issues, 13 of the Top 25 teams in the country will be in action on opening day.

As earlier reported, UConn will be out of action until at least December 15 but there will be plenty of basketball to watch over Thanksgiving weekend. The action can be viewed through various streaming options, as none of the opening-weekend matchups are featured on television.

Wednesday’s must-see matchup

No. 1 South Carolina Gamecocks (0-0) vs. Charleston Cougars (0-0)

What to watch : Aliyah Boston, the reigning Freshman of the Year, takes the court in her first game as a sophomore. Now that Tyasha Harris has graduated, who plays the point for the Gamecocks?

When: Wednesday, Nov. 25, at 12 p.m. ET

Where: Colonial Life Arena, Columbia, SC

How to watch: SECN+

Thursday’s must-see matchup

New Mexico Lobos (0-0) vs. Westmont Warriors (0-0)

What to watch: The only game of the day tips off the South Point Shootout tournament. The game may not be televised but stay glued to espn.com for the stats.

When: Thursday, Nov. 26, at 4 p.m. ET

Where: South Point Arena, Las Vegas, NV

Friday’s must-see matchup

No. 14 Arkansas Razorbacks (0-0) vs. Wake Forest Demon Deacons (0-0)

What to watch: Arkansas kicks off the Gulf Coast Showcase against Wake Forest, which also features No. 12 Maryland, No. 24 Missouri State, Florida Gulf Coast University and Davidson.

When: Friday, Nov. 27, at 11:30 a.m. ET

Saturday’s must-see matchup

No. 12 Maryland Terrapins (0-0) vs. No. 24 Missouri State Bears (0-0)

What to watch: Ashley Owusu, one of the country’s best sophomores, leads the Terrapins against a Missouri State squad led by Brice Calip, the Bears’ leading returning scorer. This is one of two Top 25 matchups taking place on Saturday. The No. 13 Texas A&M Aggies play the No. 19 DePaul Blue Demons.

Sunday’s must-see matchup

No. 12 Maryland Terrapins (0-0) vs. No. 14 Arkansas Razorbacks (0-0)
