In keeping with SB Nation’s innovative use of social media in reshaping sports journalism, our vision is a women's basketball site that goes beyond merely providing game reports; instead, we want to capture the narratives that fuel our passion for the game, while maintaining the critical stance that helps us understand the game better.

SI Selects Doris Burke "Best Sideline Reporter" of the Decade

One of the first times I sat down to watch League Pass with Bethlehem Shoals -- obviously, the only reason I befriended him -- he wondered aloud why Doris Burke didn't do color commentary for more NBA games, observing at the time that she seemed to do commentary only for Atlanta Hawks games.

Apparently, she has done more than just Hawks games -- according to an ESPN bio, she is the only woman to call a Knicks broadcast and a Big East men's basketball game on television.

I've always found her commentary on the WNBA outstanding -- she possesses both an amazing depth of knowledge about the game and an ability to communicate it clearly and concisely. I sometimes even find myself wanting to write down and reuse the comments she makes.

Although I know many people find sideline reporters flat out annoying, it's quite an honor to be considered the best at anything across an entire decade given the number of games played and people covering them. It is perhaps a small testament to her overall ability as a broadcast journalist.

Kudos to Burke...and hopefully we'll see her get the opportunity to cover more NBA/men's basketball games from the booth...
