Last night in New York City, Mark Ingram of the University of Alabama was awarded the 2009 Heisman Trophy.

Obviously instrumental in his team’s SEC championship season and bid for the BCS national title, Ingram had a great season. He rushed 249 times for 1,542 yards with 15 touchdowns, and caught 30 passes for 3 touchdowns this season.
Surprisingly, this is Alabama’s first Heisman win, ever. For a program third in all-time AP poll wins, and one of the most respected past coaches in Bear Bryant one might think that they would be used to wins of this magnitude. Not so much.
Let’s just hope that he doesn’t follow in his father’s footsteps when he gets to the NFL. The Heisman doesn’t looks so good with counterfeit money, stolen vehicles, or breaking and entering charges.
