If you know anything about Washington basketball history, you know the matchup with Oregon State is normally the gimmie game. The Huskies own a 45-22 all-time series record against the Beavers.

But OSU has won three of the past four meetings against UW, sweeping Washington last year.

Under fifth-year coach LaVonda Wagner, the Beavers (9-2, 1-0 Pac-10) highlight freshman Haiden Palmer and junior Talisa Rhea, who had 19 points apiece in defeating Washington State in their Pac-10 opener. OSU has held its past four opponents to 49-points or fewer, a school record.

Washington (5-6, 0-1) is prepared for a defensive battle, proclaiming that end of the floor to be their strength, too. UW will get a break in not having to watch for many three-pointers as it did in its 11-point loss to Oregon on Friday. But the Huskies will have to stay focused in trying to again get their style of game rolling.

"We have to continue to play our low-post game," Washington coach Tia Jackson said. "It opens up a lot of opportunities for our perimeter. We have to win the war on the boards and we've got to control the tempo."

Center Regina Rogers will be back in the lineup, benched for all but five minutes against the Ducks because the run-and-gun wasn't "her style of game," according to Jackson. Also adding a boost is the return of senior guard Sara Mosiman, although she's out after undergoing shin surgery in December.

Mosiman is back after holiday break, increasing morale. She joined the seniors in talking to the officials and meeting the OSU captains during pregame.
