RollerWomyn (Robin Bernstein)

@RollerWomyn

As a Freshman in High School, I was too shy to tryout for softball, so I became the assistant manager of our Varsity team. The closest I got to playing sports was to dance with our Drill Team in cheerleader outfits in front of our marching band. More than two decades later, I am tired of being shy and through with standing on everyone else's sidelines. I'm in training to become a DC Rollergirl! I may be over 15 years older than many of my other ladies-in-training, but I've got my sense of humor and a lifelong desire to be an athlete!

Currently I am rehabbing my knee (I had patella tendon surgery in December) I have gone through so many ups and downs in my career but no matter what I have the Olympic Gold Medal that I dreamed about my entire life so everything else is just a bonus or learning experience. I love children and have spent time working the Jackie Joyner-Kersee Youth Center in East St. Louis, I am currently a coach at Harvard Westlake High School as well as a personal coach and trainer. I have a new non profit foundation Joanna Hayes Foundation that I am super excited about. Q McCall (Quentin McCall)

@qmccall3

(From www.swishappeal.com) Quentin McCall currently writes for SwishAppeal.com and started the Rethinking Basketball blog in 2008 as a public journal of his thoughts about the WNBA from a NBA fan’s perspective. Based in Seattle, he has followed the Storm most closely during the 2009 season, but follows as many games as time and WNBA LiveAccess permit. As part of his own efforts to learn the game, "Q." has used a combination of advanced statistics and observation to better understand the game and provide rich analyses of the sport he loves. His enjoyment of the WNBA has led to an interest in NCAA women’s basketball and at the conclusion of the WNBA season, he will begin covering Seattle-area NCAA basketball as well.

hellodarcy (Darcy Turenne)

In summary... I live on an island where your car's capacity to hold bikes, skis, and surfboards is much more valued than its price or paintjob. I currently earn a living as a professional freeride mountain biker and waking up each day knowing that I've been able to turn my childhood passion into a job still amazes me. My heart ticks slowly and it takes a lot to make my adrenaline surge. However, it takes very little to make me smile. I have a BA in geography and environmental studies and I have begun my MA in communications with a focus on international and intercultural communications. Since the age of 19 I have worked in television. A majority of that time has been working as a host and field producer of a travel mountain bike show that airs in 80 countries. One day I'd like to meet the people who do the VoiceOver for me in other languages...if the Japanese "Darcy Turenne" is reading this I'd love to take you for dinner! Sometimes the activities I enjoy the most in life are the things that I am the worst at because I have an addiction to climbing learning curves. I'm a terrible runner...thank goodness for bikes! I have a passion for videography and story telling. My biggest inspirations are artists that make the mundane beautiful. I believe that my participation in sports as a child was the most powerful and positive influence on my confidence and identity formation. Sports are a gift and sharing that gift with as many girls as possible will make the world a more peaceful place.
