Leanda Cave had a record breaking day at Ironman 70.3 Florida this past weekend. Coming off a 2nd place finish at Wildflower only 2 weeks ago and despite suffering from a bit of a flu, the Brit threw it down on Sunday, defending her title for a First place finish, and smashing the course record in the process.
Leanda went into the race taking charge. Her Wildflower performance, despite a second place finish, had left her a bit disappointed with bike mechanical troubles leaving her climbing up Nasty Grade in the wrong gear and subsequently frying her legs for the run. But Florida was a new story, with her bike in prime condition, Leanda cruised through the course and averaged over 24 mph.
With a blazing fast run after her bike split, Leanda came in nearly 9 minutes ahead of 2nd place finisher Joanna Lawn.
Next up, she'll be racing the new REV3 Triathlon in CT in a few weeks, followed by defending her title at Escape from Alcatraz here in San Francisco.
You can read her race update here. You can follow her on Twitter too, @leandacave.
Go Leanda!
