Today it was announced that Lane Kiffin will be leaving the University of Tennessee to replace Pete Carroll at the University of Southern California. (See the story on ESPN.com) Carroll was officially introduced as the new head coach of the Seattle Seahawks today, as well.
Are you kidding me?
Tennessee fans are furious. (Believe me, I’m one of them. All of my Facebook friends are going nuts.)
Kiffin will reportedly be taking many of his staff with him.
This screws the Tennessee recruiting class for next fall, and possibly for the next few years. Will Kiffin end up with some of the recruits that were planning on going to UT? Will the USC recruits stay with this new coach?
Add to the mix NCAA investigations of both schools about recruiting violations and you’ve got one messed up situation.
And I thought the waters were murky a few days ago….
