Pissed of is more like it, but not the best word for a title. And since I’m apparently the resident college football commentator, (jump in, anyone?!), I get to add my opinion, right?

That said, reading that Ruffin McNeill was fired by Texas Tech really pisses me off. The man was nothing but neutral, even supportive of the university, during the days following the Leach scandal, kicked some butt in the Alamo bowl, and this is how he’s thanked? Gimme a break.

Don’t get me wrong. I understand and agree that Tommy Tuberville should have the leeway to bring his own coaches and coordinators with him. He has to build a staff and program that he can work with and buy into his system. I just have a hard time with McNeill being collateral damage in a sucky situation that he had nothing to do with, and has handled better, and with more class, than any of the others in the ‘cast of characters.’

I also hate that the good guys seem to be getting the short end of the stick in the coach swapping that we’ve got going on. McNeill, Bowden. Who am I missing? And why does an ass like Kiffin get the goods? He hasn’t produced anything yet, anywhere, except controversy.

I’m sorry to see you go, Mr. McNeill. You were one class act and I hope that someone snaps you up quick. There is a football team out there somewhere just waiting for you-one that will appreciate your defensive knowledge, dedication, and tact.
