First the men's football team performs better than expected thus far in the World Cup (as did the women last time around), and now Ai Myazato has become only the fourth woman to reach number one in the Rolex LPGA Rankings. Miyazato is a hero in golf-crazy Japan despite not winning a tournament in her first three years on tour, though she did place in the top ten with regularity. She has rolled following her breakthrough victory last season, and her win this week at the Shoprite Classic is her fourth of 2010. Paula Creamer had an excellent first two rounds in her first tournament back after injury, and eventually finished seventh in the event. The tour's second major takes place next week in Pittsford, best known to women's sports enthusiasts as the Home of Abby Wambach. There will not be national television coverage but all four rounds will be aired on the Golf Channel.
