F Vivian Frieson, who helped Gonzaga reach its first Sweet 16 in March, was cut by the Tulsa Shock on Wednesday. Frieson was the team's third-round draft pick and performed well in training camp, but first-year coach Nolan Richardson had to clear room for veteran G Ivory Latta and Iciss Tillis, who arrive Thursday. He also cut Juanita Ward.
"At this point, the veterans are a little ahead of the players just coming out of college," Richardson told Tulsa reporters. "They could make a team. It's just so sad that the numbers game got them. It was a tough decision to let them go."
Frieson said via the social-networking site Twitter that she hoped to either get picked up by another WNBA team or land a contract to play overseas. Frieson made this tweet about the roster decision:

She's expected in her native Seattle on Thursday and will walk with her Gonzaga graduating class on May 9. Earning a degree in communications, Frieson the first in her family to receive a college diploma.
Former teammate Heather Bowman remains on Seattle's roster. But Storm coach Brian Agler said he won't carry the full roster to Tulsa where the Storm plays its final exhibition game on Sunday. Bowman is on the bubble along with eight other players at training camp.
