WNBATrophy.jpgThere's finally a benefit to winning in the regular season as the WNBA switched its playoff schedule to a 1-1-1 format. The higher seed, meaning Seattle (21-2) in its Western Conference run, will play at home for Games 1 and 3, if necessary, in the best-of-three opening round.

In the past, the first two rounds were played 1-2 format, with the higher-seed opening on the road.

The postseason begins Aug. 25-30 with the conference finals played Sept. 2-8. The WNBA Finals will run Sept. 12- 21 with a 2-2-1 format. Actual dates for when each conference plays has not been officially released, yet.

All WNBA postseason games will be televised nationally, with ESPN2 and ABC airing up to 10 games, including all contests during the WNBA Finals. NBA-TV will also air up to 12 games as part of its conference semifinals and conference finals coverage.
