Anna Kournikova and Nick Bollettieri in Afghanistan
The troops who are serving in Afghanistan received the visit of former tennis star Anna Kournikova this week.
Kournikova was not the only celebrity present at the meeting held at the military airport international.
The former number 8 in the world in singles and former No. 1 doubles (along with Martina Hingis) is presented in the company of singer Billy Ray Cyrus, comedian Dave Attell and the legendary tennis coach Nick Bollettieri.
This was the first of 13 stops on the tour famous for Afghanistan.
“I am extremely proud and feel privileged to be here,” said Kournikova. “Thanks to you and your families for everything they do.”
The soldiers spoke of the joy of having this rare contact with people they know only through the media.
